The NSW Transport for NSW (TfNSW) rules state that P-platers cannot drive high-performance vehicles, including those with:
✅ A power-to-weight ratio of more than 130kW per tonne
✅ A modified engine that increases power
✅ A V8 engine (or higher)
✅ Turbocharged or supercharged petrol engines (unless exempt)
✅ Certain high-performance six-cylinder models
💡 Exceptions: P-platers can drive turbocharged or supercharged vehicles if they are low-performance models, such as small-capacity eco-friendly cars (e.g., Suzuki Swift BoosterJet or Hyundai Kona Hybrid).
