Unveiling the 2025 Kia EV3: The Future of Compact Electric SUVs
At Tynan Motors, we are thrilled to introduce the 2025 Kia EV3 electric SUV. This groundbreaking model, set to launch in South Korea mid-2024 and arrive in Australia in 2025, is poised to redefine the compact electric SUV market with its impressive features and advanced technology.
A Compact Powerhouse
The EV3 is the smallest model in Kia's global electric-car lineup, with dimensions similar to a Kia Seltos or Hyundai Kona Electric. It offers both standard- and long-range batteries, ensuring faster charging than its competitors. Built on a downsized version of the EV6 and EV9's E-GMP platform, the EV3 features front-wheel drive and a 400-volt battery to reduce costs.
Impressive Dimensions and Design
At 4300mm long, 1850mm wide, and 1560mm tall, with a 2680mm wheelbase, the EV3 is compact yet spacious. Its wheelbase is longer than a Seltos, maximizing interior space despite being shorter overall. The EV3's design, with boxy proportions and hidden rear door handles in the black-finished C-pillar, mirrors the concept unveiled last year. The vertically-oriented LED headlights feature a 'Star Map' daytime-running light signature, while the tail-lights are reminiscent of the EV9.
Range and Performance
The EV3 offers 58.3kWh 'Standard Range' and 81.4kWh 'Long Range' batteries, delivering up to 600km of estimated driving range based on European WLTP lab testing. Both variants are powered by a 150kW/283Nm electric motor driving the front wheels. Kia claims a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 170km/h. Dual-motor all-wheel-drive models, including a high-performance GT version, are on the horizon.
Fast Charging and Aerodynamics
Recharging the EV3 from 10 to 80 percent takes a claimed 31 minutes. The EV3 boasts a drag coefficient of 0.263Cd, aided by a "full 3D" underbody for improved aerodynamics. The new i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking system allows drivers to adjust the braking intensity while in 'one-pedal' driving mode.
Stylish and Functional Interior
The EV3's interior, inspired by the EV9, features dual 12.3-inch displays running Kia's latest 'ccNC' software, offering over-the-air updates, an AI-powered voice assistant, and an app store with NBA-themed display options. The dashboard includes toggle switches for air temperature and fan speed, with climate controls on a 5.0-inch panel between the displays.
Comfort and Convenience
Front seats in the EV3 have a 'relaxation' mode, and the center console includes a slide-out table for laptops. The vehicle supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing users to power devices with the car's battery pack. With a 460-litre boot capacity and 25-litre under-bonnet storage, the EV3 offers ample space and flexibility.
Advanced Safety Features
The EV3 comes equipped with advanced safety technology, including autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a highway driving assist semi-autonomous system with adaptive cruise control and lane centering.
Sustainable Materials
Recycled fabrics are used throughout the interior, including on the dashboard, door trims, seats, headliner, door armrest, floor mats, and boot floor. The EV3 is available in 'Subtle Grey,' 'Warm Grey,' blue, and black interiors, enhancing its eco-friendly appeal.
Anticipation Builds
The 2025 Kia EV3 is set to launch in South Korea in July 2024, followed by a European market debut in late 2024, and Australian deliveries in 2025. Kia aims to sell 200,000 EV3s annually, outpacing the EV6 two-to-one based on 2023 results.
