Suzuki Unveils its First Mass-Produced EV: The e Vitara
Suzuki has officially joined the EV movement in Europe, revealing the e Vitara—its first mass-produced electric vehicle (EV) under a familiar nameplate. With production set to begin in India between March and May 2025, this new EV is expected to be available in various markets, including Europe, India, and Japan, from mid-2025. Australian customers may need to wait a little longer, as Suzuki Australia has yet to announce the details of the local release.
While Tynan Suzuki Kirrawee isn't involved directly in the development of the e Vitara, we're excited to follow Suzuki's progress in the EV space, particularly given the Vitara's popularity among our customers. This latest innovation continues Suzuki’s trend of delivering versatile and reliable vehicles that appeal to drivers in many regions.
Key Features and Specifications of the Suzuki e Vitara
The e Vitara is based on the eVX concept from last year and showcases the innovative Heartect-e platform—a new EV-specific platform co-developed by Suzuki, Toyota, and Daihatsu. This collaboration allows for a lightweight structure and optimized battery space, making the e Vitara more energy-efficient and capable of delivering the driving performance Suzuki fans expect.
Powertrain Options
The e Vitara will be available in two main configurations:
- Front-Wheel Drive:49kWh Battery: Produces 106kW and 189Nm of torque.61kWh Battery: Delivers 128kW and 189Nm of torque

e Vitara Design and Interior Highlights
The e Vitara is larger than its petrol-powered counterpart, offering an additional 100mm in length, as well as a wider and taller frame. Inside, drivers will find a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment, and a clean, modern centre stack with physical climate controls. Features like a wireless phone charger, drive mode selection, and hill descent control add convenience for tech-savvy drivers.
Suzuki has also hinted that the e Vitara’s interior will be available in both single- and two-tone color options, with premium gloss black and metal-look trim accents adding a sophisticated touch.
What This Means for Suzuki’s Future
The e Vitara marks Suzuki’s commitment to a balanced approach toward sustainable mobility, with future plans to produce EVs, hybrids, and even compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles in select markets. While the exact timeline for the e Vitara’s arrival in Australia is unknown, Tynan Suzuki Kirrawee is eager to keep customers informed of any local updates.
The Bigger Picture: Suzuki and Toyota’s Partnership
The e Vitara production will take place at Suzuki Motor Gujarat in India, which will also manufacture a new EV for Toyota. This isn't the first time Suzuki and Toyota have collaborated; Toyota has previously rebadged Suzuki vehicles in markets like South Africa and Europe. These partnerships not only allow Suzuki to expand its EV offerings but also highlight the automotive industry’s growing trend toward collaborative innovation.
At Tynan Suzuki Kirrawee, we’re excited to see what this new chapter brings for Suzuki. While we may not have the e Vitara in our showroom just yet, our team is always here to discuss Suzuki’s latest models, technology, and future possibilities with you.
