ROLLING THE DICE WITH CANCER EXHIBITION
A Night of Art, Compassion, and Community: The Michael Tynan Challenge Supports Southern Cancer Care at Hazelhurst Arts Centre
At Tynan Motors, we’ve always believed in the power of community and the importance of giving back. It’s this core value that led to the creation of the Michael Tynan Challenge in 2016, in memory of our founder, Michael Tynan. The Challenge, driven by Michael’s legacy of philanthropy, has since raised nearly $2 million to support local medical research. This year, we’re proud to partner with Southern Cancer Care to host a truly special event that brings together art, conversation, and support for those caring for loved ones through cancer.
On Friday, 18 October 2024, we invite you to join us at The Cottage on the grounds of Hazelhurst Arts Centre in Gymea for the opening of "Rolling the Dice with Cancer". This art exhibition and community consultation evening will feature the moving work of Becky, who captured her deeply personal journey as a carer for her late partner, Nat, during cancer treatment at Southern Cancer Care. Becky’s images, raw and honest, are a testament to love and resilience, and they provide a powerful platform to engage in meaningful discussion about the role of carers in the cancer journey.
Hosting this event at Hazelhurst Arts Centre, and specifically in The Cottage, resonates on a deeply symbolic level. Much like Hazelhurst itself, The Cottage is a space that feels like home—reflecting the very essence of where most carers care for their loved ones. It’s a place of warmth, comfort, and reflection, making it the perfect setting to gather our community in support of carers and their crucial role in cancer care. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hazelhurst for partnering with us and providing this beautiful and intimate space on their property to host such an important event.
The Michael Tynan Challenge has long been inspired by a desire to continue Michael’s legacy of supporting local health causes. Madeline’s commitment to Southern Cancer Care stems from this deep connection, recognising the invaluable role that carers play in a cancer patient’s journey having been through it with her father, Michael Tynan. Southern Cancer Care is committed to creating tailored resources to better prepare and support carers, ensuring they feel equipped and supported throughout the treatment process and this event is a chance to get feedback from carers.
Madeline Tynan, daughter of Michael Tynan and the driving force behind the Challenge, expressed the importance of continuing her father’s legacy: "Tynan Motors has always believed in giving back to the community that supports us. Partnering with Southern Cancer Care this October allows us to continue my father Michael's legacy of supporting local medical research."
This event is not just about raising awareness; it’s about fostering a sense of community and compassion. By attending "Rolling the Dice with Cancer", you’ll be contributing to this dialogue, helping us shape the future of care for those impacted by cancer. Together, we can continue making a real difference in the lives of carers and patients alike.
We hope to see you there, as we unite art, compassion, and community in one unforgettable evening.
