Exciting news is coming out of MG Motor Australia, as the brand has confirmed it will debut multiple new vehicles at the 2025 Melbourne Motor Show in early April. The announcement makes MG the first carmaker to publicly confirm its plans for the event, where a total of nine new vehicles are expected to make their Australian debut.

Giles Belcher, MG Motor Australia's chief commercial officer, shared the brand’s enthusiasm for the upcoming showcase. "MG are excited to confirm we will reveal multiple new vehicles at the [2025] Melbourne Motor Show. This will be one of the first times globally people can get up close to these vehicles. We're excited to have a superb stand planned for the centre of the exhibition that shouldn’t be missed."

What to Expect from MG at the 2025 Melbourne Motor Show

While MG has not officially confirmed which models will take center stage, speculation is high regarding a number of potential debuts. Among them is the highly anticipated IM L6 electric sedan and IM LS6 electric SUV—products of MG's parent company, SAIC Motor, in partnership with Alibaba Group and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. These models will be sold in MG showrooms across Australia, though it remains unclear whether they will retain the IM Motors branding or be rebadged under the MG name.

Another likely star of the show is the MG S5, an all-new small electric SUV poised to replace the current ZS EV. Given MG’s push toward electrification, this model could be a game-changer in the Australian market.

MG is also working on a Tesla Model Y-rivaling electric mid-size SUV, a successor to the MG Marvel R sold in Europe. Additionally, the MG QS, a petrol and hybrid seven-seat SUV, is slated for an Australian launch in 2025. However, whether these models will be ready in time for an April debut remains to be seen.

For those interested in hybrid options, MG has confirmed that plug-less hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the MG HS mid-size SUV will arrive in Australia in the second half of 2025. These models will directly challenge competitors like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and the BYD Sealion 6 PHEV, and they could make their first Australian appearance at the show.

Adding to the excitement, MG is also preparing to introduce its MG 7 medium sedan, a rival to the Toyota Camry, in the latter half of 2025.

A Must-See Event for Car Enthusiasts

The 2025 Melbourne Motor Show will take place on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6, with several major automakers joining MG at the event. Confirmed exhibitors include Kia, Isuzu Ute, Porsche, Tesla, GWM, and Subaru, alongside a mix of new and returning brands to the Australian market.

For Sydney-based car enthusiasts and those traveling from Sutherland and beyond, the MG stand at the Melbourne Motor Show will be a must-visit destination. With an array of cutting-edge vehicles set to make their debut, MG is ready to make a strong statement in Australia’s automotive landscape.

Stay tuned for more updates on MG’s upcoming models and what to expect at one of the biggest automotive events of the year!
