Exciting news for Australian SUV buyers – MG’s first-ever seven-seater for Australia, the 2025 MG QS, has been revealed in government paperwork ahead of its expected showroom debut in the coming months. This new model will soon be available at Tynan MG Sutherland, bringing a fresh option for families and SUV enthusiasts in Sydney and beyond.

MG QS: Bigger, Bolder, and Packed with Features

The MG QS is set to be the largest MG SUV available in Australia, slotting above the popular ZS and HS models. In terms of size, it surpasses the Toyota Kluger but remains slightly smaller than the discontinued Mazda CX-9. Measuring 4983mm long, 1967mm wide, and 1788mm tall, with a 2915mm wheelbase, it offers a spacious and comfortable cabin for seven occupants.

Engine Options and Performance

At launch, the MG QS will be available with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 153kW, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. While this is slightly less powerful than its Roewe RX9 counterpart from China, it aligns closely with the Middle Eastern-market MG RX9, which delivers 150kW/350Nm.

A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant is expected to follow, but MG has yet to confirm the details for the Australian market.

Variants and Drivetrain Options

The QS is expected to be offered in multiple variants, following MG’s familiar trim lineup:

  • Vibe – Front-wheel-drive with 20-inch wheels
  • Excite – All-wheel-drive, mid-range model with 20-inch wheels
  • Essence – Flagship all-wheel-drive model with 21-inch alloy wheels

Two drivetrain options will be available: Front-wheel drive (COM) and All-wheel drive (DEL), with the AWD model offering both 20- and 21-inch wheel options.

Interior and Technology

The MG QS is expected to feature an upgraded interior compared to its Roewe RX9 counterpart, incorporating a dual 12.3-inch screen setup similar to the latest MG HS. High-end features available in overseas models include:

  • Leather upholstery
  • Power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated front and second-row seats
  • Adaptive suspension for a smoother ride
  • Premium 12-speaker Bose sound system
  • Three-zone climate control
  • Advanced safety suite with the latest driver assistance technologies

Expected Arrival and Availability in Sydney

The 2025 MG QS is set to arrive in Australian showrooms by mid-year, with a potential first public appearance at the Melbourne Motor Show in April. Sydney-based buyers eager to get behind the wheel of MG’s largest SUV yet can soon visit Tynan MG Sutherland to experience the QS firsthand.

With its spacious seven-seat layout, premium technology, and strong value proposition, the MG QS is shaping up to be a compelling new option in Australia’s growing SUV market. Stay tuned for pricing details and final specifications as we approach its official launch!
