Mercedes-Benz has made it easier than ever for electric vehicle (EV) owners to charge their cars by fully integrating charging services into its infotainment system through the Mercedes me Charge service. This new development enhances the driving experience by allowing drivers to search, navigate, and pay for charging directly from their vehicle's infotainment system.

In partnership with Chargefox, Australia’s largest EV charging network, Mercedes-Benz has streamlined the charging process, offering seamless access to over 2700 Chargefox charging plugs across the country. With this integration, Mercedes-Benz drivers no longer need to rely on their smartphones to start or finish a charging session. Instead, they can use the vehicle’s infotainment system, the Mercedes me app, or the Mercedes me Charge RFID card.

Previously, while drivers could locate Chargefox chargers via their car’s satellite navigation system, they had to use a separate app or RFID card to handle the charging process. This integration simplifies everything—drivers can now complete the entire process without leaving the car's interface.

Complimentary Chargefox Subscription

Mercedes-Benz sweetens the deal with complimentary Chargefox subscriptions for certain new EV models. The length of this complimentary access varies depending on the model, but some drivers can enjoy up to five years of free charging sessions.

A Global Network Expanding in Australia

While Mercedes me Charge has been available in international markets for years, offering access to over 1.5 million charging plugs through more than 1300 EV charging providers, this is the first time the service is launching in Australia with Chargefox. Mercedes-Benz owners will now have access to the same seamless, global charging experience that has been enjoyed by drivers worldwide.

Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG CEO Franz Reiner praised the growth of the service, noting that in 2023, the company integrated an average of 40,000 charging points per month, ensuring customers benefit from a vast and transparent charging network.

Enhancing EV Ownership in Australia

Chargefox CEO John Sullivan also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing how the partnership elevates the charging experience for Mercedes-Benz EV owners. "This partnership highlights how an Australian innovator like Chargefox can work hand-in-hand with an industry giant to enhance the electric vehicle ownership and charging experience,” said Sullivan.

With this new level of integration, Mercedes-Benz and Chargefox are making it even more convenient to own and operate an electric vehicle in Australia. Whether you're at home or on the road, charging your Mercedes-Benz has never been easier.
