With a fresh take that intentionally stands apart from traditional ute styling, the Tasman is here to make a statement in a crowded market. “We had to create something new,” said John Buckingham, head of Kia Next Design Exterior Group. “The real basis of the car is based on what the customer does with it and how the customer uses it.” Every line, curve, and feature on the Tasman is crafted to reflect not only its utility but also the uniqueness of Kia’s design philosophy.

Unmatched Interior Space and Comfort

Dimensions that Stand Out

The Tasman is both the widest and tallest in its segment and trails only the Jeep Gladiator in overall length. It shares the same wheelbase as the popular Ford Ranger but goes a step further by extending the rear overhang, resulting in a bed that’s longer, deeper, and wider than the Ranger’s. This extra space makes the Tasman an ideal choice for those who need maximum utility, whether they’re hauling gear for work or adventure.

Unique Design Features and Practical Additions

One of the Tasman’s most talked-about features is its rear wheel-arch extensions. These extensions not only add visual interest but also hide practical elements like the fuel filler door on one side and a lockable storage compartment on the other. Kia plans to offer alternative wheel-arch options in Australia, which will have a more conventional look but won’t include the storage compartment.

But Buckingham set the record straight, stating, “It’s not a decision to shy away from this bold and progressive-looking vehicle.”
