Hyundai has unveiled the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition, marking the first special edition of its 2025 Ioniq 5 N model. This exclusive variant is the result of a collaboration between Hyundai and renowned Japanese drifting legend Keiichi Tscuchiya, known as the Drift King.

Performance Enhancements Inspired by Racing

Limited to the South Korean and Japanese markets, the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition promises enhanced driving thrills both on and off the racetrack. Tscuchiya’s expertise has influenced significant upgrades to the vehicle’s performance and aesthetics.

Enhanced Handling and Design

Externally, the DK Edition distinguishes itself with lighter and wider 21-inch forged wheels, now 10 inches wide to improve grip and reduce weight by 10.6kg. The braking system has been upgraded with six-piston monoblock calipers, increasing pad contact area by 54% for improved stopping power.

To enhance agility, H&R lowered springs have been added, dropping the ride height by 15mm, transforming the SUV into a more dynamic hatchback-like performer. The exterior features a striking carbon-fibre aerodynamics package, including a swan-neck spoiler, lowered front splitter, side skirts, and a rear diffuser. These additions generate an impressive 93kg of additional downforce at 140km/h, enhancing stability and cornering prowess.

Under the Hood and Inside

While specific interior details and powertrain adjustments for the DK Edition have yet to be disclosed, the standard Ioniq 5 N boasts formidable performance figures. Its electric powertrain delivers up to 478kW/770Nm in N Grin Boost mode, propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The 84kWh battery provides a generous range of 448km, supported by innovative features like N Drift Optimiser and Torque Kick Drift functions, which aid in controlled powerslides.

Market Positioning and Legacy

Hyundai positions the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition as a pinnacle of performance within its lineup, priced at approximately $110,383 before on-road costs in Australia. This special edition follows Hyundai’s successful showcase of the Ioniq 5 N at the 2023 World Time Attack Challenge in Sydney, where it demonstrated its capabilities under Tscuchiya’s skilled handling.

As Hyundai continues to push the boundaries of electric vehicle performance and style, the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition stands out as a testament to collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to thrilling driving experiences.

Stay tuned for more updates on availability and further details on this exciting collaboration between Hyundai and Keiichi Tscuchiya.
