Harrop Supercharger Breathes New Life into the Suzuki Jimny banner

At Tynan Suzuki Kirrawee, we know the Suzuki Jimny holds a special place in the hearts of Australian off-road enthusiasts. Its compact footprint, rugged reliability, and unmistakable character make it a favourite among adventure seekers. But even icons have room to evolve—and thanks to HARROP Engineering, the pint-sized powerhouse just got a serious shot of adrenaline.

    The TVS900 Supercharger: A Game-Changing Upgrade

In December last year, HARROP Engineering quietly introduced a supercharger upgrade for the Suzuki Jimny. The TVS900 kit—featuring an Eaton-sourced blower—is engineered specifically for the Jimny’s 1.5-litre K15B engine. The result? A jaw-dropping 59% boost in peak power and 42% increase in torque, delivering a total of 106kW and 168Nm of dynamic driving force.

This performance transformation is especially enticing for drivers who rely on their Jimny for rugged off-road adventures, often loaded with camping gear and accessories. While the factory specs of 75kW (manual) or 63kW (auto) may suffice for some, many have yearned for a little extra punch—and Harrop delivers exactly that.

    OEM Integration and Everyday Usability

Despite its performance prowess, Harrop’s TVS900 supercharger kit is more than just a power play. It's been carefully designed to integrate with Suzuki’s OEM systems. According to Harrop Engineering brand manager Jake Di Pietro, the ECU is fully recalibrated—not piggybacked—ensuring seamless operation and factory-like usability.

“Our goal is to have an OE level of integration with the hardware... all the vehicle systems function as intended by Suzuki,” says Di Pietro.

Even emissions compliance isn’t overlooked—the kit is mod-plated and emission-tested for road legality in Victoria.

    What’s Under the Bonnet?

In addition to the supercharger itself, the package includes:

    • A water-to-air intercooler
    • Upgraded fuel injectors
    • A higher-capacity MAP sensor
    • A sleek carbon-fibre intake chamber
    • 9.4psi (65kPa) of peak boost

All of this results in not just power, but responsiveness. Unlike turbocharged setups, there's no lag, no spooling—just instantaneous throttle response.

Behind the Wheel: First-Hand Driving Impressions

GoAuto recently spent time with supercharged Suzuki Jimny owner Tarzan Patterson, who raved about the upgrade's impact on real-world driving.

“Power and torque delivery is far more linear… it’s always ‘ready’ with just the prod of the throttle,” he said.

Indeed, the transformation is most noticeable in acceleration: 0–100km/h drops from 12.9 seconds in the standard Jimny to a sprightly 10.1 seconds with the TVS900 kit installed. And while the supercharger whine is present, it’s tastefully subtle—just enough to hint at the performance lurking beneath.

    Is It Worth It?

Of course, all this comes at a price—$10,990 installed—which may raise eyebrows given the base Jimny starts at $30,490. Yet for those who crave more capability and control on demanding terrain, the value is undeniable.

At Tynan Suzuki Kirrawee, we’re proud to offer support and guidance for Jimny owners looking to take their build to the next level. Whether you're an off-road enthusiast, a weekend camper, or just someone who wants their Jimny to keep up with their adventurous lifestyle, Harrop’s TVS900 supercharger might just be your perfect mod.
