Futuristic & Compact: The New Omoda C3 Is Coming – Stay Tuned with Tynan Chery Wollongong
Australia’s small SUV market is about to welcome an edgy new contender: the Omoda C3, the latest innovation from Chery’s futuristic sub-brand Omoda. Slated for its global unveiling next week in Wuhu, China, this bold new compact SUV is already generating buzz – and Tynan Chery Wollongong is your destination to follow every step of its arrival down under.
If you’ve got your eye on a city-sized SUV that doesn’t blend into the crowd, the Omoda C3 is designed to stand out – both in style and innovation.
A Compact SUV with a Cyber-Futuristic Twist
Set to debut at a media event aligned with the Shanghai Motor Show, the Omoda C3 introduces a new wave of design language from Chery. While official specifications are still under wraps, what we do know is exciting: the C3 features a chunky wide-body design, two-tone black-on-blue paintwork, and striking alloy wheels that exude character.
The design is inspired by cyber aesthetics, and if early teasers are any indication, the C3 may look like a scaled-down Lamborghini Urus with its angular silhouette and symmetrical cabin layout. Chery calls it “cyber-futuristic sharpness,” combining aggressive lighting elements with a next-gen aesthetic that redefines what a compact SUV can be.

Positioning & Market Entry
The Omoda C3 will sit below the Omoda C5 in the lineup, making it a more accessible entry point into Chery’s tech-forward SUV family. Although it’s still unclear whether the C3 nameplate will carry over into the Australian market due to trademark issues with Citroen, Tynan Chery Wollongong will keep customers updated with the latest on model names, availability, and release dates.
Meanwhile, the Omoda C5 and C7 plug-in hybrid variants are also set for debut at the Shanghai event, boasting impressive specs like Chery’s Super Hybrid System – already seen in the Jaecoo J7.
This system pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 150kW electric motor, delivering combined outputs of 255kW and 525Nm, an electric-only range of 90km, and a total driving range nearing 1200km. That’s serious hybrid range in a small SUV package – and a promising sign of what may be offered in the Omoda C3’s future.
The EV Evolution Continues: Jaecoo J5 and More
Also on the horizon is the Jaecoo J5, another compact SUV expected to arrive in Australia this year, powered by a 1.6-litre turbo engine offering 137kW/275Nm via a seven-speed dual-clutch auto. An all-electric J5 variant is also in development and expected to be shown at the Shanghai show.
With Tynan Chery Wollongong, customers will soon have access to a wider variety of advanced electric and hybrid vehicles, making the transition to green driving easier and more stylish than ever.
