Exciting news for city car lovers — MG is expanding the MG 3 hatch range with a brand-new entry-level variant, the MG 3 Vibe, arriving this June at Tynan MG Sutherland. This update also brings important safety enhancements across the entire MG 3 line-up, following a three-star ANCAP safety rating last year.

A More Affordable MG 3?

The MG 3 Vibe is expected to offer a sharper entry point into the MG 3 range, nearly a year after the latest-generation model arrived with a significant price jump. However, MG has yet to confirm whether the Vibe will return to the sub-$20,000 drive-away mark of the outgoing generation.

Currently, the MG 3 Excite is available at $22,888 drive-away nationwide, but it's still uncertain if the Vibe will undercut this special offer. MG Motor Australia’s Chief Commercial Officer, Giles Belcher, has confirmed the Vibe is coming — but final pricing is still being discussed.

Simple, Smart, and Stylish

The MG 3 Vibe is expected to run on 15-inch steel wheels with hubcaps, and may forgo certain features like push-button start and adaptive cruise control to hit a more accessible price. However, key safety tech such as lane-keep assist and speed sign recognition is likely to remain standard, as MG works to improve its safety ratings.

Safety First

The entire MG 3 range, including the new Vibe, will benefit from a safety-focused update in June. While structural changes are unlikely, MG plans to boost its ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) package to help lift the hatchback’s ANCAP rating closer to four stars.
