2026 Hyundai Palisade: Hybrid Power and Off-Road Muscle Coming to Australia
The next-generation Hyundai Palisade is getting a major upgrade — and it’s heading to Tynan Hyundai Kirrawee later this year. With a bold new look, hybrid powertrain, and an adventurous XRT Pro variant on the horizon, Hyundai is doubling down on its commitment to delivering premium, family-friendly SUVs that are just as capable off the road as they are on it.
Arrival Timeline and What to Expect
Hyundai has confirmed the 2026 Palisade will arrive in Australia during Q4 of 2025 (October to December), with the rugged XRT Pro version following in the first half of 2026. This marks the first time Aussies will get a taste of the XRT Pro badge — previously a US-exclusive feature.
The Palisade will initially launch with a turbocharged hybrid 2.5-litre engine, offering 246kW of power paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A non-hybrid turbo four-cylinder (207kW/422Nm with eight-speed auto) is expected to join the range later. Hyundai has confirmed that Australian models will not receive the US-spec 3.5L V6.
XRT Pro: Adventure-Ready and Built Tough
The Hyundai Palisade XRT Pro is tailor-made for adventure seekers. It features:
- Increased ground clearance of 213mm
- 18-inch dark-finish alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres
- Red front and rear recovery hooks
- Revised front fascia and black exterior accents
- Electronic limited-slip rear differential
- Terrain modes for mud, sand, and snow
- Surround-view camera with ground view, pitch and roll monitors
Hyundai says the XRT Pro was "explicitly designed for US consumers," but the growing demand for rugged SUVs across Asia and Europe is accelerating its global rollout — including in Australia.
Bigger, Bolder, and More Premium
Compared to its predecessor, the new Palisade is larger in every direction, making room for even more comfort across seven- and eight-seat configurations. Dimensions include:
- Length: 5060mm
- Width: 1980mm
- Height: 1805mm
- Wheelbase: 2970mm
Inside, the cabin now features:
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
- 12.3-inch infotainment screen
- Updated materials and finishes
- Optional captain’s chairs or second-row bench seating
Hyundai promises a premium, tech-laden experience suitable for families and long-distance travellers alike.
Built for Australia: Local Tuning Expected
Hyundai’s commitment to local drivers remains strong, with an "extensive local tuning program" in place to ensure the Palisade handles Australia’s unique roads and conditions. This could include suspension tweaks, calibration changes, and ride quality improvements specific to our market.
As part of Hyundai’s large SUV strategy in Australia — alongside the redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe — the new Palisade continues to offer a true three-row experience, rivalling competitors like the Mazda CX-80 and CX-90.
