2025 Suzuki Fronx: A Budget-Friendly City SUV Arriving in Australia Soon
The all-new Suzuki Fronx is set to arrive in Australia by mid-2025, offering an affordable and compact alternative to some of the country’s best-selling small SUVs. With Tynan Suzuki in Sydney preparing for its launch, the Fronx will fill the gap left by the soon-to-be-discontinued Suzuki Ignis, bringing updated technology and a modern design to the budget SUV segment.
A Successor to the Suzuki Ignis
The Suzuki Ignis, which first launched in 2017, is being retired due to the upcoming mandatory autonomous emergency braking (AEB) requirements in Australia. Enter the 2025 Suzuki Fronx, a stylish and more advanced alternative that meets all new Australian safety standards while maintaining Suzuki’s signature affordability and efficiency.
Initially expected to launch in 2023, the Fronx has faced delays, but Suzuki Australia has now confirmed a June or July 2025 arrival.
Fronx vs. the Competition
With an expected starting price of around $25,000, the Suzuki Fronx will compete with:
- GWM Haval Jolion (from $23,990 drive-away)
- Chery Tiggo 4 Pro (from $23,990 drive-away)
- MG ZS (from $26,990 drive-away)
- Hyundai Venue (from $22,750 before on-road costs)
- Kia Stonic (from $25,460 before on-road costs)
While models like the MG ZS and Haval Jolion are larger and offer hybrid powertrain options, the Fronx prioritizes agility and efficiency in an urban-friendly package.
Powertrain and Features
The Suzuki Fronx is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 76kW and 137Nm of torque, paired with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system to enhance fuel efficiency. A six-speed automatic transmission and 16-inch alloy wheels come as standard.
Notable features include:✔️ 9-inch infotainment touchscreen✔️ Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto✔️ LED headlights & tail-lights✔️ 360-degree camera✔️ Flip-up head-up display✔️ Black & burgundy interior upholstery
Safety and Compliance
The Fronx meets all new Australian Design Rules (ADR) safety requirements, including:🛑 Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcyclist detection🛑 Lane-keep assist & blind-spot monitoring🛑 Adaptive cruise control🛑 Six airbags
With the Ignis, Vitara, and S-Cross phasing out due to safety regulation updates, the Fronx steps in as Suzuki’s latest city SUV offering for Australian buyers.
