Hyundai has officially confirmed the pricing and specifications for the highly anticipated 2025 Hyundai i30 Hatch, marking a significant update to one of Australia’s favorite hatchbacks. With production now shifted from South Korea to Europe, the i30 Hatch sees notable changes, including a $12,000 price increase, a new mild-hybrid engine, and a refined design.

European Production and New Powertrain

The 2025 Hyundai i30 Hatch will now be built in the Czech Republic, following Hyundai's decision to end production in South Korea in December 2023. This shift in manufacturing location has brought about a substantial price increase, largely due to a five percent import tariff and higher shipping costs.

The biggest mechanical update comes in the form of a new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, equipped with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This engine, which produces 117kW of power and 253Nm of torque, replaces the previous 2.0-litre non-turbo and 1.6-litre turbo engines. The new powertrain is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard, offering improved efficiency and performance.

Although fuel consumption figures for Australia have not yet been confirmed, Hyundai Europe claims a combined consumption of 5.7L/100km, a notable improvement over the 7.4L/100km claimed for the outgoing 2.0-litre engine.

Streamlined Model Line-Up

Hyundai has streamlined the i30 Hatch range, discontinuing the base, Active, and Elite trims. The 2025 model will only be available in two sports-themed variants: the N Line and the N Line Premium.

The entry-level i30 N Line is now priced from $36,000 before on-road costs, reflecting a $3500 increase over the previous N Line model, and a staggering $12,000 jump from the base model of the 2023 i30. The top-of-the-line N Line Premium is priced at $41,000, up $3700 from its predecessor.

Design and Feature Enhancements

The 2025 i30 Hatch receives its second facelift since its 2016 debut, featuring revised headlights, tail-lights, and bumpers that bring it closer in appearance to the performance-oriented i30 N hot hatch. The exterior is further distinguished by the inclusion of V-shaped daytime-running lights, a design element introduced in Europe in 2020.

Inside, the base N Line now boasts a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, upgrades from the previous 8.0-inch and 7.0-inch screens. The cabin also includes three USB-C charging ports and updated 18-inch alloy wheels.

The N Line Premium variant adds several luxury touches, including Bluelink connected-car services, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support and memory settings, as well as heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

Seven colors are available for the 2025 i30 Hatch N Line, allowing buyers to personalize their vehicle with choices like Atlas White, Abyss Black, Cypress Green, Sailing Blue, Shadow Grey, Shimmering Silver, and Ultimate Red.

Conclusion

The 2025 Hyundai i30 Hatch represents a significant evolution of the beloved hatchback, with its shift to European production, the introduction of a new mild-hybrid engine, and a host of updated features. While the price increase is substantial, the i30 Hatch continues to offer a compelling blend of style, performance, and technology that should appeal to a wide range of buyers. Now available in Australia, the 2025 i30 Hatch is set to continue its legacy as a popular choice for those seeking a versatile and modern hatchback.
